Description
WIRE TENSIONING SYSTEMS
The tensioning system inside the drum allows to maintain the correct deposition of the wire obtained in drumming process while handling the drum. Subsequently, during the extraction and welding operations, it guides and controls the unwinding of the wire avoiding the formation of knots and guaranteeing continuity of welding.

PLASTIC FLAT tensioning system
For drums with inner tube. Sponges applied to the outside diameter prevent the outer loops from rising and creating knots. For more tenacious wires, external PVC fins can be applied to the brake as an alternative to sponges. The bevelled internal profile favours the sliding of the wire during extraction, avoiding tensions and ribbing, for a straight line.

MDF FLAT tensioning system with sponges or fins
For drums with inner tube. Sponges applied to the outside diameter prevent the outer loops from rising and creating knots. For more tenacious wires, external PVC fins can be applied to the brake as an alternative to sponges. The bevelled internal profile favours the sliding of the wire during extraction, avoiding tensions and ribbing, for a straight line.

PLASTIC CONICAL tensioning system
For drums with or without internal tube. Sponges can be applied on the outside diameter prevent the outer loops from rising and creating knots. As an alternative to the sponges, a kraft paper ring with an external diameter very close to the body of the drum can be placed between the tensioning system and the wire for the control of the most external loops. The internal conical profile conveys the thread during extraction towards the centre of the drum below the entry point into the sheath.
PAPER AND MDF CONICAL tensioning system
For drums with or without internal tube. It is composed of a kraft paper conical element glued to an MDF ring. Another kraft paper ring with an external diameter very close to the body of the drum is placed between the braking system and the wire for the control of the most external lopps. The conical shape of the system conveys the thread during extraction towards the centre of the drum below the entry point into the sheath. With this type of tensioning system it is possible to adopt a lid for the drum with a central hole, to which the sheath can be connected directly, avoiding the use of the external dome.
Paper and MDF 3-ELEMENT CONICAL tensioning system
For drums with or without internal tube. The system is composed of the same elements as the previous one, but are independent, to allow their adaptation to the movements of the wire during unwinding. A paper ring is placed in contact with the wire; on it rests the kraftliner paper conical element; an MDF ring is placed on the entire system to add the necessary weight to the brake. The conical shape of the system conveys the thread during extraction towards the centre of the drum below the entry point into the sheath. With this type of tensioning system it is possible to adopt a lid for the drum with a central hole, to which the sheath can be connected directly, avoiding the use of the external dome.
Elastic and steel bar

The galvanized steel bar holds the braking system down thanks to an elastic band tied to the bottom of the drum; this presses the wire during transport operations to prevent movement of the coils.
WIRE EXTRACTION SYSTEMS
External hood

An accessory used for connecting the sheath to the drum. Our hoods can be used on KRAFTLINER drums with top and bottom steel chimbs and on ecological FTS drums, since they are secured to the drum with the respective closing band.
The external dome can be supplied in transparent plastic or steel and has an inspection slot for manual insertion of the wire into the sheath and for constantly checking the unwinding process.
MDF lid with hole
On customer’s request, the MDF drum lid can be equipped with a hole to connect the sheath directly to the drum without using an external hood.
Paper telescopic lid
In order to provide the end user with a more environmentally friendly and easily separable and disposable drum, a telescopic paper lid can be applied to the FTS ecological drum, thus avoiding the use of an MDF lid and steel closure band. The lid maintains excellent mechanical resistance and is fitted on the drum; it is also provided with a central hole for the direct connection of the wire extraction sheath.
Sheath
Used to transport the wire to the welding station, it is attached to the external hood or directly to the drum lid with a hole. They have a diameter of 5.5 mm and a customisable length depending on the client’s needs. The ends of the sheath can be threaded or quick connection for a quicker assembly.
Connectors

The connecting sheath between the drum or drum lid and the welding torch can be fitted with screw-on ends with M14 connector or with a 3/8 quick coupling.
